Charleston is an enchanting city, located in South Carolina. The beauty, charming atmosphere, well preserved buildings, beaches, and historic homes, makes Charleston a special place to visit in the United States.
After visiting Savannah, we drove to Charleston, to see the total solar eclipse. It was one of the most beautiful and magical moments of our lives.
We also decided to explore the city, to find what it has to offer. Most of the places in Charleston are accessible by foot. Of course it’s much easier if you stay around the historical center.
Here’s our road trip itinerary to visiting Charleston, South Carolina:
Check out the Oak Tree:
It is a treasure of a tree estimated to be 400-500 years old. It’s worth the stop. Angel Oak is unique, and located on gorgeous John’s Island, right near Charleston.
Here you will find colorful and historic homes it’s so charming, that they’ll make you want to move to Charleston.
Here you will find, stunning homes, the famous Pineapple Fountain, a splash zones for kids, parks and amazing views of the river and bridge.

Travel back in time exploring the streets of Charleston.
Shopping in Charleston:
Check out Charleston city market, here you will find famous brands, boutiques and very nice restaurants.
Boone Hall Plantation and Magnolia Plantation & Gardens:
Although both of these plantations are almost 25 minutes away from Charleston, it is definitely worth the visit. These are one of the country’s oldest plantations. Here you will find oak trees, gardens, museums, and learn about the history of African Americans.

If you like the beach, visit John’s Island, Folly Beach island, Sullivan’s Island, are one of the most stunning islands in Charleston.
We loved visiting Charleston, the architecture, food, and the Southern laid-back lifestyle stole our hearts.
We will definitely return in the future, to spend more time and explore more places!
