Savannah is located in Georgia, Southern United States. It is one of the most historic and old cities in the country.
Where you can find great parks, tree lined streets, monuments, unique architecture and delicious cuisine.
We always wanted to go on a road trip deep into the South, and we finally decided to do it.
Here’s our road trip itinerary to visiting Savannah, Georgia:
Check out Wormsloe Historic Site:
It is one the oldest plantations in the country. There is a tree-lined drive, which makes it look like a tunnel along the dirt road. There is also a museum dedicated to the history of the property, which was once a mansion.
While in Savannah we could see most of the city in a weekend.
We stayed at the Mansion on Forsyth Park, Autograph Collection, an autograph collection hotel. It is one of the most famous hotels in the city.
Walk through Forsyth Park:
This is a green park with stunning gardens, memorials and fountains.
Check out the famous Jones Street:
It is considered one of the most beautiful streets in the USA.
Stop at Olde Pink House:
For drinks and lunch we highly suggest you to stop here, the food, and drinks are phenomenal.
Eat desert at Leopold’s Ice Cream:
This place has been open since 1919, there are several ice cream flavors and ways to eat. Try their signature tutti frutti flavor, such a delight!
Shopping in Savannah:
Check out the River Street is the best place to find them. The whole street is full of stores, restaurants and bars.
If you are brave go on a Ghost tour at night, or visit Bonaventure cemetery.
Watch the movie “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil”. It’s a great movie, and it will make you understand more about the Southern lifestyle.
Places to eat: Collins quarter, The Vault, Shrimp Bar, The Ordinary, Olde Pink House, Leopold’s Ice Cream.
If you have more time visit Atlanta, the capital of Georgia. Don’t miss the chance to check out these attractions: Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca Cola, Tour the CNN Center, the global headquarters of CNN.
Without doubt the state of Georgia, has several interesting places. We did not expect to see, so much beauty and history in Savannah. It is one of our favorites cities in The United States.
