New York City Travel Guide

New York City is surrounded by museums, parks, bars, good restaurants, and incredible Broadway shows. It is one of our favorite cities in the world. We’ve been there a few times, and there is always something new to see and to do.

Top things to do in New York City:

Central Park:

It is one of the most famous parks in the world, located in the heart of the city. Wear comfortable shoes.  You can walk, run or have a picnic in the park.

From there you can walk a few blocks to see Times Square, one of the best-known tourist spots in New York, and a must-see place to visit.

Broadway:

This is another must-go district of New York City. The most traditional shows are: The Phantom of the Opera and The Lion King.

Visit the observatories: 


The main observatories in New York City are the Empire State Building and Top of The Rock , which is located in the GE Building at Rockefeller Center. You can see spectacular views of Manhattan, Central Park, and there is a very busy ice skating rink during the winter.

Tip: Do not forget to buy tickets online, to avoid the lines.

Check out the Grand Central Terminal:

 There are many boarding platforms, bars and restaurants inside.  Have lunch at Grand Central Oyster Bar, one of the oldest restaurants in New York City.

If you walk from Brooklyn Bridge to the another side of Manhattan, you can also go to Wall Street or to One World Observatory , and 9/11 Memorial & Museum, built in honor of the victims of the terrorist attacks in 2001. These places are near to each other.

Walk around Madison Square Park:

Here you can see the famous Flat Iron Building, one of the coolest  buildings in New York.

Check out Washington Square Park:

It is a beautiful park. Where you will find, a monument similar to the Arc de Triumph, dedicated to President Washington.

Walk along the High Line:

Along the way you see the city’s architecture, art on the walls and cool buildings.

Take a boat to see the Statue of Liberty:

It was and still is, a symbol of freedom and hope to the thousands of immigrants who came to America. The statue, 93 meters high, is located in the bay of New York, on Liberty Island, and it can be visited, by boat tour from Battery Park. 

The tour leading to the statue also goes to Ellis Island, an island that has a museum dedicated to the history of immigration to the United States.

Tip: Buy your tickets online, to avoid long lines. You will have to pass through security lines, before boarding the ferry.

How to get to New York City?

New York has three airports and they are the main points to arrive in the city. JFK Airport and La Guardia, are located in the Queens, while Newark, is in New Jersey.

The closest  airport to Times Square is La Guardia, however, it is mostly used for domestic flights.
