Fernando de Noronha is one of the most protected and beautiful places in Brazil, and probably in the world, where you can enjoy the water, boat rides, buggy, dives and hike the trails. Diving and snorkeling are huge sports in there.
Where is Fernando de Noronha?
Fernando de Noronha is a volcanic archipelago about 350 kilometers off Brazil’s northeast coast. It is also the most eastern point of the country. The island is only 17 km long, but offers much to see and do.
The island has 16 trails that lead leading to beaches, waterfalls and lookouts, where you might see a few animals along the way.
Fernando de Noronha is considered one of the best places in the world to Diving. The crystal clear waters and plant diversity, make this place unique and special. You only can live there if you were born there, or have a work visa. This place is one of the most protected in Brazil.
What to do in Fernando de Noronha?
You can rent a buggy to do a tour around the island. The buggy fits up to 4 people. We could see almost the whole Island. Ask at the hotel for a guide who speaks English. If you can’t find an English speaking guide, don’t worry the city is safe, and the guide will show you the top places to visit and take pictures. You can also rent a buggy and drive buy yourself if you are more adventurous.
Exploring Fernando de Noronha:
We went to Baia do Sancho on the top of the mountain, from there we could see Morro Dois Irmãos, a rock formation in the middle of the ocean.
Baia do Sancho has been voted as the most beautiful beach in the world by Tripadvisor in 2014 and 2015.
At the end of the tour, we watched the sunset at Cacimba do Padre, on the top of the mountain. It was amazing!
After seeing the Island by land, the second day we visit the island by water on a boat ride. We woke up early and they picked us up at the hotel, and took us to the port. When the tour started, the first thing we saw were incredible rocks, and many dolphins swimming in their natural habitat at Baia dos golfinhos.
We took surf lessons from some local teenagers at Praia da Conceição. It was pretty cool!

When is the best time to visit Fernando de Noronha?
The most dry season extends from August to February; the rainy season is between March to July and December to February . August and November for the practice of diving.
How to get to Fernando de Noronha?
You can travel from other capitals, and must stop in Recife or Natal to get up to the island. The airlines Gol and Azul have daily flights departing these cities to Fernando de Noronha. Fees and visas to visit the place are paid at the airport, and you will receive a card with all your information collected, to be able to visit the national parks.
