The title came about because only the emperor, and his family and special employees could enter the palace buildings. Anyone else who went through the gates without permission, was subject to execution.
The location was the imperial palace of China since the mid-Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty, serving as the ceremonial and political center of the Chinese government. Only in the 1920s, it was turned into a museum.
Near to the Forbidden City, is Tiennamen square. One of the largest and most famous squares in the world.
We went to the Great Wall: One of the 7 wonders of the modern world. There are several places to visit the walls. We went to the Mutianyu section – located 70km north of Beijing. This is one of the best, preserved parts of the wall, as it served to defend the capital and the royal tombs.
